Breastfeeding Support Service (SAAM)
The Breastfeeding Support Service (SAAM), managed by the Prorectorate for Affirmative Action and Equity (PROAFE), provides support and a welcoming environment for staff and students who are mothers, enabling them to continue breastfeeding after returning to their professional or academic activities at UFSC.
A breastfeeding support room was inaugurated on the Trindade Campus in 2019 and is currently in operation. The space is intended for the expression and storage of breast milk, allowing mother and child to continue breastfeeding and also enabling the donation of milk to a human milk bank.
In addition to maintaining the breastfeeding room, the service works to raise awareness within the academic community about the importance of breastfeeding.
