Breastfeeding Support Service (SAAM)
The Breastfeeding Support Service (SAAM) managed by the Prorectorate for Affirmative Action and Equity (PROAFE) provides support and a welcoming assistance to mother workers/students so that they can keep breastfeeding after returning to their professional/academic activities at UFSC.
A breastfeeding support room was inaugurated on the Trindade Campus in 2019 and is currently under implementation. The place is intended for the collection and storage of human milk, giving the mother-baby binomial the opportunity to continue breastfeeding or even allowing the donation to a human milk bank.
In addition to maintaining the breastfeeding room, the support service aims to mobilize and raise awareness of the academic community about the importance of breastfeeding.
