Support Service to Indigenous and Quilombola Students

The responsibilities of the Support Service to Indigenous and Quilombola Students are:

  • be a locus where indigenous and quilombola students are listened to, a place where their demands are recorded and forwarded to the competent authorities;
  • identify the specific demands from these students in order to subsidize actions the University may take to guarantee their graduation;
  • offer information in conjunction with the Prorectorate for Students Affairs (PRAE) on scholarships, grants and financial support;
  • offer information in conjunction with the Prorectorate for Undergraduate Studies (PROGRAD) about undergraduate programs;
  • support the registration for receiving subsidies from the Ministry of Education (MEC) and others;
  • welcome and offer guidance to students victims of racism or prejudice and refer them to the committee for confronting racism;
  • support and provide conditions for the formation of student networks and collectives, in which indigenous and quilombola students can exchange experiences and build relationships within university life;
  • hear and record the demands from student collectives and direct the procedures appropriate to the specificities of such demands.
